Well Lex reminded me that I’ve been blogging now for just over a year. I should have done something special to celebrate, like making a compilation of quotable quotes from my posts of the last 12 months, or make a list of “new blog years” resolutions, or make a major renovation of the website—wait, I sort of already did that.

Except for a few bugs that I’m unable to really try to deal with, due to the absence of my computer, I’m really happy with WordPress and this template. There’s a lot I still want to customize and improvements I want to make, but they will have to wait until later.

In a related story, I’ve reconsidered my decision to repair the laptop. This is due to some online research I did yesterday, which uncovered a common trend of unsatisfied owners of my particular laptop model, due to similar or identical problems that I’ve experienced. This tells me that this is not a fluke and that a replacement part built by the same manufacturer is very likely to have the same flaws as my original part. What’s the use of replacing a part with another faulty part? Sure, they may have fixed the problem (I haven’t seen any evidence that they have), and maybe I can get another year out of it or so, but neither the manufacturer or CompUSA will guarantee or warranty their parts or service. In my mind, this adds up to a bad idea.

So, I’m going to think about it for a while longer and pray that some extra cash or a new computer will fall in my lap so I can leave this headache behind me. I just need a new PowerBook and I can continue with my life.

No worries though. A solution will emerge.
