It was a glorious 38 degrees outside this morning and as of this hour, it’s holding on to 46. To me, there are few things that motivate my morning more than a chilly morning and a hot cup of coffee. My life is actually beginning to pick up quite a bit of momentum these days. That’s because things are in full swing in the web design venture. Bradshaw and I have been working on a few sites and learning quite a bit about Dreamweaver and I have had to do some extra learning on Photoshop. These are going to be our two main tools of the trade and they are very vast programs, but fortunately, this is the type of learning I enjoy and can appreciate because I can directly apply the knowledge and skills that I aquire.

In the midst of all this work, we figured we had better come up with a name for our little biz. This has proven to be a difficult task. We’ve had a hard time weighing all of the options, checking open domain names, and expressing an identity, but we’ve come up with a working short list of ideas:

- Pixelight Creative (or Pixelight Design)
- Creative Light Media
- Wide Awake Media (or Design)
- True Light Media (or Design)
- Sparklight Media
- Lamplight Creative
- Emerging Labs

Obviously, we’ve got a few basic themes we want to express in our name. First, we want to express what we do as web designers, but we don’t want the name to limit what we do to just design, because we plan on venturing into other forms of media (that’s why we are playing with “Design” and “Media”). Since we are focused on helping churches and ministries, we want to express the idea of helping “spreading the Light”, via Matthew 5:15.

I’d love to get some feedback on some of these ideas. We want to make sure some of this stuff makes sense to people outside our little creative bubble. If you guys help us out on this, maybe I’ll post some logo ideas later this week so we can get input on that as well!
