I’ve made a very important decision this week. I have been struggling for a couple of months about this, but a choice had to be made, so I made it. I’ve decided to watch the fifth season of 24 as it airs. The 4-hour season premier begins Sunday night. 2 hours Sunday and 2 hours on Monday. I’ve decided to watch based on several factors:
I was worried that I would be less inclined to aquire the dvds if I watched the season as it airs, but I gave in to the fact that I will always aquire the 24 dvds, no matter the circumstance.
I was also concerned about missing an episode, which is something that cannot be reconciled with this show, but thanks to my DVR, this hopefully will not be an issue of concern.
I was prepared to deprive myself of the show for the greater pleasure of the dvd marathon next November, but I have heard too many amazing reviews of this coming season to repress the urge. This season is supposed to be the greatest season of 24 to date. The first ten minutes of the premier are supposed to be shattering and it’s not supposed to let up…..for 24 hours.
I have a hard time reccomending this show to someone who hasn’t watched the previous four seasons in their entirety because the show is so sequential. It is because of this that I have a hard time reccomending 24 to anybody who isn’t disciplined enough to watch every single episode. To be a fan of 24 is a costly task, but for anyone who knows what it is like, they know how great the reward is. Tomorrow, the world will fall on the verge of disaster, and Jack will have to save millions of lives once again. He will have to do the impossible. He will have to torture and even kill several people. But I know he can do it, and I will be watching his every move.

Chris, this is so random, but I was your sister’s college roomate at OBU. She told me about your blog and I’ve read most of it. I just had to comment on this one about 24. This one, and the previous 24 blog are hilarious. We’ve been living overseas for 3 years and had to watch seasons 1-3 of 24 on DVD in the UK and we just recently watched season 4 so we would be caught up and ready for season 5. We are so pumped about tonight’s season 5 debut that we can hardly stand it. We’ve gotten our family hooked as well, and it’s been a rough couple of weeks trying to watch all the seasons with them so we can all be up to speed for tonight’s 2 hour episode. Anyway, just wanted to say we think your blog is hilarious and we totally relate and have been having “Jack attacks” for weeks now! Can’t wait for tonight to see what Jack is up to! Jack is back!
Dude,
We got Season 4 for Christmas, but we haven’t been able to knock it out in a week like we did Seasons 1-3 during the month of June. Season 4 by far is the best, but we have 6 hours to go before the premeire tonight and probably won’t finish. I just might however.
The DVR is a beautiful thing for shows like this. I can’t wait to see how Season 5 will top the past one!
Jack is frickin’ crazy!
