Right now, I’m sitting on a sofa in Dunn Bros. Coffee, sipping an Americano, listening to my iPod, and blogging on my Mac. In other words, I’m in Utopia. And I’m proud to say it. I deserve this little retreat. After all, I’ve had a pretty rough week. It started on Tuesday morning, when Maverick decided to leave us a few fecal treats during the night. I don’t know what got into his system, but man, he got it bad. After we took care of that, Katy and I went to do a level 2 ultrasound. This was cool, because level 2 is significantly better in resolution, so we got to see some really cool things. After that, I decided to go ahead and blow the rest of the afternoon and hang out with my wife, so we went for a nice drive.
Wednesday, the maddness resumed. Maverick had another accident. We thought he had gotten over it, but we were wrong. Nasty. So, again, we had to spend the morning scrubbing carpet. I was already behind in my work due to the doctor visit and the afternoon blowoff, so I was not all that thrilled. Plus, Katy had to work at home (under direction from her boss), which is nice and everything, but hey, two people can’t work on one PowerBook. So, since she makes most of the bread, I had to forfeit my precious Mac for the entire day. No fun. Instead, I had to take Mav to the vet and get an oil change on Katy’s car.
Yesterday was mad catch-up day. Katy went in for work, so I worked like heck to get some projects done. I also found a great open-source program called Vanilla that I am going to be using for the Providence Church digital community website. I’ll post about this sweet little thing some other time.
I also had to clean house Thursday, which was a pain because of Maverick’s redecorating. But it all got done and everything’s nice and clean again.
Today, I spent some time on Vanilla and prepared for a meeting with a prospective client, but that got postponed so here I am! Drinking coffee, relaxing, iChatting, and playing with Vanilla. Glorious.
I also hope to spend the evening taking Katy to see Firewall. I don’t know much about the movie, but if it’s got Harrison Ford in it, then I’m going to go see it. I’ll let you all know what I think about it next week. For now, I’m going to enjoy the coffee and the atmosphere.
