Most of you know our dog, Maverick. He’s a Lab/Aus. Shepherd mix and he’s a little more than 3 yrs. old. He’s a really great dog, but one of the downsides of having him around this time of year is the shedding. Maverick sheds and he sheds a lot. We’ve dealt with this for a couple of years now, but with the baby coming we decided to take a more proactive measure—shaving.
I took Mav to PetsMart today for a much needed bath, but this time I had them shave him down. Not a complete shave, but just about even with the hair on his head and legs. I knew he would look funny because I’ve never shaved him before, but it was still pretty suprising and hilarious to see how he turned out. Below is a before and after shot of the Mavster:

I can’t believe you actually did it! I’ve already told Zeke that he is NOT allowed to make fun of Mav this weekend. He did offer some of his hair as a transplant. How do you think taping it on would do since there’s no way to weave?
You’re sick Chris. Sick, Sick, Sick.
Actually, I had some friends who grew up on a farm and every summer they would give their dogs the buzz cut, only on the head mind you. Now that looked weird.
I think he looks great…and smaller
Wow…simply wow. He looks so defeated in the after shot.
Looks a bit stange still having a fluffy tail.
I was searching for shave shepherd mix and came upon Mavericks photo. It looks like he has been shaved for a couple months now. How is it growing back? We rescued a shep mix off the streets of Beaumont texas almost two years ago. She is the sweetest, gentlest, best dog ever! The shedding drives us crazy though, since she is a total house dog. The groomer told me just a week ago that I should shave her, but havent made up my mind yet. Would you do it again? If you have a minute could you please email me and let me know, since I dont know if I can find this site again. Thanks
